Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Global Management Studies Department of Business Management in the Faculty of Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University [www.torontomu.ca] (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2026 subject to final budgetary approval. 

The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, scholarly research or creative activity and service duties while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Teaching duties will entail teaching at the undergraduate level, supervision of students and/or curriculum development. The successful candidate will pursue a strong, innovative research program or creative activity that is externally funded and that produces cutting-edge, high-quality results. 

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in International Business Management, with a strong preference for those who possess demonstrated research expertise and substantial professional work and academic experience specifically related to conducting business in the Middle East. Candidates should be able to translate this expertise into high-quality teaching and curriculum development focused on the region, ensuring students gain a deep understanding of the Middle East Business Environment.  In particular, the successful candidate will: 

  • Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise students, and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Pursue a strong, innovative, and externally funded Scholarly, Research, and Creative (SRC) program that produces high-quality and impactful outcomes.
  • Engage in service to the Global Management Studies Department, Faculty, and University while contributing to an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment.

 

In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:

  • A strong record of emerging scholarly research with the potential to publish in top-tier journals in the field, as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, public policy contributions, conference presentations, and other contributions to the discipline's visibility.
  • Potential for teaching excellence, including a teaching dossier with a statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of effective pedagogy (e.g. syllabi, evaluations, awards), and experience with experiential learning.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching, research, and service.
  • The ability and willingness to contribute collegially to the life of the Department and the University.

 

This position falls under the jurisdiction of the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) [www.tfanet.ca]. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

The Department of Global Management Studies (GMS), part of the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM), serves more than 1,000 students of diverse backgrounds and prides itself on excellence in research, teaching, and community engagement.
