Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit and the Wendat Peoples, the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (YSGPS) at Toronto Metropolitan University [www.torontomu.ca] invites applications for the position of Academic Lead, Postdoctoral Fellows, for a 2 year term, from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2028.

Reporting to the Vice-Provost and Dean, YSGPS, the incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership in all relevant aspects of postdoctoral fellowships at TMU including but not limited to: supporting the recruitment, hiring, supervision and training of postdoctoral fellows; helping to create an inclusive, equitable, and productive postdoctoral scholarship experience for every TMU postdoc throughout all stages of their engagement at TMU; creating a professional community to foster belonging and peer support among postdoctoral fellows; in collaboration with relevant partners including OVPRI and Faculty deans,  supporting SRC strategic initiatives through postdoctoral fellow involvement; helping to address the academic and career development needs of postdocs, including providing focused career advice and organizing events and workshops to support engagement and career planning; addressing any other postdoctoral affairs or matters of concern that may arise, in consultation with the YSGPS team; and contributing to advancing EDI across all aspects of postdoctoral SRC activities.

The successful candidate will receive an appropriate stipend during the term of this appointment. 

The successful candidate will be a tenured faculty member at TMU and will present evidence of the following: 

  • a track record of excellence in SRC activities and experience in engaging with postdoctoral fellows; 
  • an understanding of the broad disciplines across TMU; and 
  • a commitment to our values of equity, diversity, and inclusion as it pertains to SRC activities. 

 

As a tenured faculty member, the successful candidate will continue to be a member of the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) [www.tfanet.ca]. 
 

About YSGPS

In January 2024, the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (YSGPS) officially changed its name from the Yeates School of Graduate Studies to recognize the importance of postdoctoral fellows and their contributions to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and its SRC goals. The new name represents the enhanced focus, integration and commitment to postdocs within the YSGPS administrative structure and dedicated support of postdoctoral success at TMU.
